About the Trip

Join us on an Indonesian Adventure as we travel throughout four major islands of the country and see Indonesia through a lens of action, nature, & culture. We’ll begins in Eastern Java, where we’ll visit numerous waterfalls that are some of the most impressive you’ll see. We’ll visit Mt.Bromo, a mar’s like volcano and region and then finish our time in Javaa with the surreal Kawa Ijen volcano. Then, in Bali, the “Island of Gods”, we’ll immerse ourselves in Balinese culture and explore the stunning rice terraces. To cap it all off, we’ll finish our trip with a 4-day boat cruise around the Komodo Islands. Here, you’ll come face to face with the largest fish in the sea, the whale shark and, of course, the mighty Komodo dragons. These days are dedicated to discovering incredible beaches, islands, and nature of the area. Lastly, we’ll end our last day overlooking the port of Labuan Bajo in Flores Island.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival day

Arrive at Surabaya Airport (SUB) in Jawa at your convenience. After clearing customs and collecting your luggage, our shuttle will transport you to our accommodation in Lumanjang. After a refreshing shower, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with fellow group members who have already arrived. Following a delightful local lunch, we will explore a vibrant district of Malang. In the evening, we’ll kick off our journey with a special welcome dinner, allowing us to connect while savoring delicious local cuisine.

Day 2: Drive to Lumanjang and Waterfall Excursion

Our day commences with a delicious breakfast, after which we’ll pack our bags and board a shuttle to Lumanjang. The area around this town is known for its breathtaking waterfalls. Upon checking in at our accommodation and enjoying lunch, we’ll embark on a hike to a colossal 330-foot waterfall, where you’ll begin to sense the country’s vibrant energy. Upon returning from the waterfall, we’ll dine at a beloved local restaurant.

Day 3: Tumpak Sewu Experience

Following an early start and a quick breakfast, we’ll set out for a full day of immersing ourselves in nature and waterfalls. Our first destination is the hike to Tumpak Sewu, often considered one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls. The trail leads us through a valley, past other waterfalls, and across serene creeks. After taking in the awe-inspiring views, we’ll return for lunch and relaxation before visiting another waterfall viewpoint. To conclude the day, we’ll head to a sunset spot offering stunning volcanic vistas.

Day 4: From Waterfalls to Volcanos

In the morning, we’ll explore another waterfall, affording a breathtaking panoramic view. Afterward, we’ll embark on our journey to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, where we’ll connect with another natural wonder – volcanoes. Upon arriving in Cemorolawang, you’ll have some free time in the evening.

Day 5: Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Adventure

2:30 AM, we rise and venture into the national park by jeep, traversing the sea of sand to reach the sunrise viewpoint overlooking the park. Here, we’ll witness the transformation from pre-dawn glow to the soft morning light before descending into the sea of sand. This surreal landscape invites contemplation in the morning light. Following this, we’ll head to the base of Mt. Bromo and hike for 30 minutes to reach its crater rim, where we’ll relish another panoramic vista before driving to our breakfast spot. Upon returning to our accommodation, we’ll pack up and take a shuttle to Probolinggo, with a stop at a picturesque waterfall for a refreshing break along the way.

Day 6: Drive to Banyuwangi

Today offers a more relaxed schedule. You’ll have a chance to sleep in a bit, savor breakfast, and then board a shuttle to Banyuwangi, approximately 5 hours away. In the evening, we’ll participate in an Indonesian cooking class, discovering the secrets of local flavors. Tonight, we’ll prepare for the early morning hike and head to bed.

Day 7: Sulfur Clouds and Blue Flames at Kawah Ijen

The day begins with a 12:30 AM wake-up call, as we set out for Ijen at 1 AM. Upon arrival, we embark on a 2-hour hike to the crater lake, where we may witness the rare phenomenon of the blue sulfur flames. After that, we return to the crater rim for the sunrise. Following the sunrise, you have the option to return to the crater lake to witness the surrealistic area where sulfur clouds rise, and miners work next to the turquoise acidic lake. After descending from the volcano, we’ll return to our accommodation, collect our bags, and take a ferry to Bali. From the port, we’ll board another shuttle to Ubud, where you’ll have a free evening to unwind and relax.

Day 8: Balinese Culture and Rice Terraces

In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll embark on a cultural excursion to learn about Balinese customs, beliefs, and culture. After a traditional lunch, we’ll explore impressive rice terraces, offering insight into the lives of Balinese farmers, picturesque rice plateaus, and a viewpoint with a backdrop of rice terraces and a volcano. On the way back, we’ll enjoy dinner, and in the evening, you’re free to indulge in massages, drinks, or explore Ubud.

Day 9: Bali Relax and Travel to Lombok

After sunrise, we’ll wander through the lush rice terraces of Tegalalang, a perfect location for Instagram-worthy photos. Following this, we’ll spend the morning at a pool club with a view of the terraces, enjoying delicious food and drinks while soaking up the sun. Around noon, we’ll return to Ubud, collect our bags, and take a ferry to the neighboring island of Lombok. During the journey, we’ll stop at a supermarket to stock up on beers and snacks for an upcoming boat cruise.

Day 10: Komodo Boat Trip

Today marks the beginning of our 4-day Komodo boat cruise. In the morning, we’ll board our vessel and set sail. Our tour commences by sailing around Lombok Island, including a stop at Kenawa Island to witness the sunset and enjoy bonfire drinks.

Day 11: Whale Sharks

In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Saleh Bay, known for its schools of whale sharks. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to witness these gentle giants of the sea and even snorkel alongside them. Afterward, we’ll explore Tambora Beach for swimming and snorkeling. Following this, we start our journey to the next destination.

Day 12: Padar Island, Komodo Dragons, and Pink Beach

In the early morning, we’ll set foot on Padar Island and embark on a short hike to one of its peaks. From this vantage point, we’ll watch the sunrise casting its golden light over the entire island. Following this, we’ll return to the boat for breakfast and sail to Rinca Island, one of the Komodo islands. Here, we’ll learn about Komodo dragons and embark on a brief hike to spot them in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, we’ll visit Pink Beach, considered one of the most beautiful beaches on our journey. You’ll have ample time to relax, swim, or snorkel.

Day 13: Beaches before Arriving to Flores

In the morning, we’ll visit Manjarite Beach and the enchanting Kelor Island before reaching Labuan Bajo, where our boat tour concludes. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our accommodation and have time to refresh and rest. In the afternoon, we’ll bring some drinks to a beautiful spot to watch the sunset before our farewell dinner, a time to reflect on our experience and enjoy the evening together.

Day 14: Departure back home.

Regrettably, our adventure concludes today. We’ll provide breakfast and coordinate your airport transfers. You’ll be departing from Komodo Airport (LBJ), conveniently located just a short drive from our accommodation. Bon Voyage!
